I think I may have found a solution to my ragged ends that I was so disgusted about a month ago. Cowashing in sections. I started cowashing a month ago in sections and I have seen a MAJOR improvement in my ends. They don't feel rough anymore. Thank you, Jesus!!! I still have single strand knots but not nearly as bad. I also make sure I twist my hair at night. Pineappling and/or just a satin bonnet does not work for me.
I'm glad I was able to change something simple in my routine to fix a problem that was really bothering me.
Til next time, thanks for reading. Be blessed.

Flat iron twist out results!!
I flat ironed my hair Wednesday night and then twisted it with Cantu shea butter pomade. I left the twists in until today (2.5 days). The twists shrunk a little during that time but my hair was still stretched for the most part. For the take down, I sprayed my hair with ORS Nature Shine and separated each twist.
I did not manipulate my hair any more than separating each twist.
I knew my hair would puff out a little on its own.
I added a cowrie shell and I was ready to go to a family function.
It was raining outside and I just knew my hair would be one big puff ball by the time I got back home.
But to my surprise,
it wasn't that bad.
Nice and puffy but in a good way.
I absolutely LOVED the results. Before the rain and after. LOL. I never thought my hair could look like that. The only thing I didn't like was having to apply heat to get this look. So unfortuantely this won't be an everyday style. I'll have to find another heat-free way to stretch my hair this much. I also can't wait to get my hair cut so it will have a better shape. It's not as obvious in the pics but my hair is many lengths and it needs to be fixed. This style will look so much better when that's taken care of. Maybe soon. ;)
Hubby loved the look. What do you think?

I flat ironed my hair!
I have decided I'm going to get my hair professionally cut in the next 2 months. I had a consultation with my mom's stylist who has done her hair for years. Of course he said my hair would have to be straightened somehow before he could do anything to it. My last blow drying experience was horrible so I decided to use my stepdaughter's flat iron. I really just wanted to see what my hair looked like straightened.
I liked the flat iron because it has adjustable temperature on it. I only did one pass thru on on each section of hair. I did this on Wednesday night.
I decided to twist my hair for a twist out on saturday because I have a family function to attend. I had to use something new to twist my hair with since it was dry and the gel I normally use would make it wet and shrink up. I bought some cantu shea butter pomade from the bss for about $4.
The ingredients are petroleum, shea butter, and fragrance. It's more like hair grease but I'm not really sure what I expected. I used it and it left my hair soft and shiny. I can't wait to see the twist out results. Stay tuned for that.

Blog Updates
I just wanted to let you know that I've updated a few things on the blog page. Check out my favorite youtubers and a few of the nappy blogs that I read. They are located on the right side of the page.
I also feel the need to explain why my posts are not as frequent as expected. Bottom line: my laptop sucks. It's slow and it runs hot so I don't use it nearly as much as I use to. I use my phone. For everything, including posting updates. I take pictures, read blogs, watch youtube, all on my phone. Everything but talk on it (I hate talking on the phone). So please bear with me. Occasionally (like now) I break the laptop out for big posts.
I love you guys that follow and even those who just stop by.

Regimen: Then and Now
I've been meaning to do this post forever now. The funny thing is that my regimen has changed again since I first thought to do this topic back in May. So here, I'm going to tell you the different things that I've tried and the things that work for me now.
Pre-Poo
Then: none; honey & EVOO mix under cap for 15-30 min.
Now: coconut oil for 5-15 min.
Cleanse
Then: whatever shampoo I had; peppermint castile soap. Shampoo, then condition, no sections.
Now: cowash (cleanse w/ conditioner; detangle) in 4-8 sections.
Deep condition (after every wash)
Then: Dr. Tingle intensive conditioner & hair mayonnaise mix all over, detangling as I go.
Now: Creme of Nature argan oil conditioner, hair mayonnaise & olive oil conditioner mix (detangling in about 8 sections then twisting) under 3 caps (plastic cap, shower cap, hair bonnet) for at least 1 hour.
Detangle
Then: Detangling while applying deep conditioner with a denman brush (half bristles removed) or wide tooth comb.
Now: Detangling while cowashing and again while applying deep conditioner in sections with fingers only.
To summarize, I am now cowashing in sections detangling as I go. I do everything in sections now which has saved me a boatload of time, energy, and hair. I wish I had tried this in the beginning. I've read about people doing it but I've never been one to do what every one else was doing. Lol! But I guess that's why it's a journey. My journey. You live and you learn.
